Importance of Popcorns for Everyone

A type of corn which blows up from the core and gusts up when heated is known as popcorn or popping corn. There are different varieties which are grown to give improved popping acquiesce. Few of the wild types pop, but the most cultivated strain is “Zea mays subsp”. This mays is a special sort of flint corn. This corn was exposed by Native Americans, thousand of years ago.

Few of the American communities believe that popcorn is magical. During the Great Depression, pop corn was very famous since 1890. During the Great Depression, the corn was prized as 5-10 cents per bag. Gourmet Popcorns industry thrived when other businesses failed. An example is Oklahoma banker who started popcorn business when their bank failed. A small store was started near the theater. After few years, he was able to buy back three of the farms that he lost due to his popcorn business. During the World War II, Americans used the popcorn three times a day, as sugar was gone oversea. Popcorn Capital of the World is the state given to five localities of the America. These are Valparaiso, Indiana; Van Buren, Indiana; Marion, Ohio; Ridgeway, Illinois; Schaller, Iowa; and North Loup, Nebraska.

Gourmet popcorn contains certain amount of moisture and oil in its starchy endosperm. Unlike the other grains, the popcorn outer hull is strong and impermeable to moisture, whereas the inner starch is hard and dense in texture. As the oil and moisture in the corn passes the boiling point, the moisture is turned into the kernel and kernel itself turns into superheated pressurized steam within the moisture-proof hull. The starch becomes gelatin, soft and pliable. The pressure continues to increase to break the hull. To break the hull, a pressure of 135 PSI and temperature of 180 Celsius is required. The hull raptures and the pressure inside expand the starch and proteins of the endosperm into the foam. As the foam cools, the starch and proteins polymer become crunchy puff.

Regardless of how popcorn is prepared, it is the flavor that is most frequently focused on the taste. Flavoring popcorn transforms the humble snack foods into the gourmet popcorn. You can enjoy gourmet popcorn salted, buttered, spiced, sugared, Cajun style, covered in chocolate, and even in a variety of savory flavors. It makes a great treat, as well as a wonderful gift. Gourmet potato chips are also a popular snack food that can be prepared in a number of ways and come in many flavors. You can find gourmet varieties of old fashioned potato chips, baked potato chips and kettle cooked potato chips. Potato chips can be found in salted varieties, as well as flavored with spices, cheese, and herbs. You can also find brands that use gourmet potatoes and some even produce organic potato chips.

Gourmet popcorn recipe needs nothing to do. Simply put your popcorn in homemade popcorn machine and get your poppy corns. Similarly microwaves are in use now for popping the corns. Other very cheap method can also be used. For this, the hard corn is poured into the airtight cooking pot. This pot is then heated by letting the fire on under the pot. After reaching to desirable temperature and pressure, the corns start to pop up. Gourmet popcorn recipes involve different flavors that are added to popcorns. These flavors can be borrowed from the market very easily.

There are many varieties of popcorn but gourmet white popcorn is common in use. Different other varieties are categorized depending on their colors and shapes. Some are mushroomed shape and some are butterfly shaped. Colors like black, red, yellow and white are dominated.
